Bobcat Attachments Review: Bobcat Magnet
Bobcat attachments come in all shapes and sizes, and they are becoming more specialized in their applications. The Bobcat skid loader is the perfect machine for the scrap yard, with its ability to turn around in tight quarters, and the fact that it has tires that are highly resistant (and even impervious) to punctures. The Bobcat also has the ability to lift heavy loads with its different Bobcat attachments, so it should be right at home among scrap metal of all kinds — a great solution for recycling operations.
Enter the KM-10 Electro-Magnet, the first real Electromagnetic Bobcat attachment developed specifically for the Bobcat machine. The hydraulics-powered generator produces up to 5,500 watts of electricity, and when all that juice is fed into the core, the KM-10 pulls and carries several hundred pounds of steel at a time. Because the magnet is so powerful, it is recommended that your Bobcat be rated to lift 2,000 pounds or more. The KM-10 Electro-Magnet Bobcat attachments also require the hydraulic flow of your Bobcat skid steer loader meet or exceed 20 GPM. They come equipped with a universal quick-attach system which should be compatible with your Bobcat skid loader. These steel separating magnets can be equipped with either the standard controls from your Bobcat, or can be operated via the optional cab-mounted remote control system. It is easy to imagine using these Bobcat attachments to move large metal objects (like buckets or other Bobcat attachments) around on a construction site or in a scrap yard, or even just using it to clear a lot or driveway of steel nails, screws, or other debris that could cause damage to tires or bare feet. But the KM-10 Electro-Magnet really shines when it is put to use in a scrap metal yard, in a recycling area, or anywhere that sorting and transporting steel is needed. A last pass over a pile of aluminum to separate the different kinds of metals from one another makes the KM-10 Electro-Magnet Bobcat attachments incredibly useful and helpful tools. In these days of increased recycling efforts, this is one of those Bobcat attachments that will make you wonder how you ever saved the planet without it.
